Saudade

I am originally from Portugal and when I moved to the UK I would sometimes get quite homesick. During my time at university I lived with a musician and through him I met many others and was always inspired by their music. One day I introduced Fado to my flatmate and we were dazzled and inspired by the amazing instruments, sounds and expressions of the genre. It was from there where I had the idea to fill a room with life size stencils of musicians and poets from the world of Fado. I created resin instruments in the shape of a Portuguese guitar and mandolin which I layered with stencil hands representing connection and embrace.
